What this problem usually is
These reports start with the check engine light. Many describe the engine running rough or shaking at idle, a P0300-series code, or a catalytic converter code. A worrying number say the light was flashing. Owners often list ignition coils or spark plugs already replaced, and the light coming back afterward.

The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.
A high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure may introduce internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel starvation.

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler may crack and allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system. This mixture may combust inside the intake manifold.
These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging.

“Fuel sensor issues. 100's of complaints on Fuel Sensors and many reported to NHTSA. The gas gauge will not work and check engine light on, when checking code it is P0463,that is fuel sensor issue. It is dangerous not to know how much fuel is in tank. Again very common issue on Rams with 40K miles and less. Ram know about all these cases. It is a common problem that is ignored by Ram.”

“Truck was consuming coolant and you could smell it but can't see a leak then the service electronic throttle control light came on a few weeks later with a code reading P0402. This was a recall and has been replaced but was replaced before they had the proper fix for it. Dropped it off at dodge dealer this morning for further diagnosis.”
