Something looks wrong on a page

A wrong count, a complaint that plainly belongs in a different group, a model listed under the wrong name: those are the site's to fix. The editorial policy explains how a fix is made and keeps a dated log of the ones that changed a number.

A complaint you filed yourself

Owner complaints on this site are NHTSA's public records, shown as NHTSA published them, so the site can't edit or remove one. Any change has to be made by NHTSA, and its Vehicle Safety Hotline (888-327-4236) is the agency's public line for complaints. Once NHTSA updates its record, the change shows up here after the next daily rebuild.

A safety problem with your car

Diagsheet can't take reports or pass them on. File your complaint with NHTSA at nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem or through the same hotline. NHTSA reviews every complaint it gets, and complaints are how it spots the trends that lead to investigations.

Whether your car has an open recall

Enter your VIN or license plate at nhtsa.gov/recalls. NHTSA's free SaferCar app can also alert you when a new recall covers a vehicle you've added. If a dealer won't do a recall repair for free, NHTSA takes complaints about that too.
