About Diagsheet

Diagsheet is a reading of the public record on car problems. When an owner files a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, it goes into a public file with the make, model, year, the system involved, the mileage if the owner gave one, and what happened in their words. Manufacturers file recalls into a second file, and NHTSA's investigations go into a third. This site reads all three every day and lays them out per vehicle, sorted by mileage.

The odometer is the whole idea. A list of everything that ever went wrong with a model is not useful to someone standing next to one particular car with 84,000 miles on it. What that person wants to know is which of those problems are behind them, which are due, and which they can stop worrying about. So each vehicle page asks for your mileage first and sorts the rest around it.

The site doesn't diagnose your car and doesn't tell you whether it's safe to drive. It tells you what other owners of the same car reported, how many, at what mileage, what got replaced, what they paid, and whether NHTSA or the manufacturer has acted. Take that to a mechanic.
