Stalling on other F-150 years
Report counts are for each model year on its own, so a newer car has had less time to collect them. Model years with too few reports of it for a sheet: 2024, 2025, 2026.
What this problem usually is
Stalling reports are some of the most alarming on the site. The engine quits while the car is moving, sometimes on a highway and sometimes at a stop. Many owners say it restarted right away and the dealer found no stored code, which is part of why these complaints pile up before anything gets fixed.
What got replaced
Owners who name the part that was replaced mention the battery (12 reports), the throttle body (4 reports) and the alternator (3 reports).
Recalls and investigations
3 recalls on the transmission and drivetrain cover the 2019 model year. A recall on the same system isn't always the same failure, so read the defect text.

What owners wrote
“Typical known issue with the 10speed transmission. Stall shifting between 3rd and 5th gear. When shifting under acceleration and shifting from 3rd to 5th the transmission hangs and then slams into 5th. Happens frequently.”

“Vehicle would stall in between gears. Almost got hit in side. The transmission has shifted rough and hard shift. I took to dealer and the computer was reset at 55,000 miles. I just had to replace transmission at 77,000 miles. The repair cost was $8,059.00 before taxes. I was told 4th and 8th gear the cluthes were out. This seems to be a known problem because the replacement transmission has a different valve body.”

“The Cam phasers in my truck malfunctioned at 72K miles. The failure would cause the vehicle to stall while driving. The dealership replaced them for $4945.26. The dealership would have the broken components. No warning light or malfunction light appeared.”

“The truck delays with automatic shifting and stalls. It will go from 10th down to 1st. This is extremely dangerous and we were quoted 7,000 for repairs. It's a 2019 with 60,000 miles! It should NOT be doing this.”

Should you keep driving it?
This page can't tell you that. 0 of 177 reports involved a crash and 1 people were hurt. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.
File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation. How reports land on this sheet.
