Stalling on other F-150 years
Report counts are for each model year on its own, so a newer car has had less time to collect them. Model years with too few reports of it for a sheet: 2024, 2025, 2026.
What this problem usually is
Stalling reports are some of the most alarming on the site. The engine quits while the car is moving, sometimes on a highway and sometimes at a stop. Many owners say it restarted right away and the dealer found no stored code, which is part of why these complaints pile up before anything gets fixed.
What got replaced
Owners who name the part that was replaced mention the throttle body (22 reports), the fuel pump (10 reports) and the battery (6 reports).
Recalls and investigations
2 recalls on the engine cover the 2014 model year. A recall on the same system isn't always the same failure, so read the defect text.

A loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module can cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.

What owners wrote
“Ford did recall on transmission, it failed on my way home. I took it back and they refuse to fix trying to separate event to warranty issue. 3weeks later I have no truck and being stalled by ford. Even Elena Ford has it on her desk(computer) 4 days no response. They quickly processed the recall so they can imply it never had one. Lead module(connector) is reason and part of recall.”

“There was a sudden downshift at 50mph and a wrench icon showed up on my truck. I used on OBDII scanner and the codes p0706 and p0707 showed up. My safety was put at risk because I could have been hit in the rear and my rear tire locked up. I got the repairs done for a leadframe install. Is there any way I can get reimbursed for the repairs made, because this was once a recalled issue.”

“Two issues. The first issue arose due to a leak in the "y" pipe under the air box. Upon replacing that connector, the throttle body had to be removed to get room to reinstall. Upon reinstallation of the throttle body, the truck falls into limp mode unexpectedly during normal driving, in traffic. Installed ned throttle body from parts store and still throws the p2112 code.”

“Car downshifting into first gear at random while driving causing instant loss of power, braking due to gear change and high revving of engine. When it occurs at highway speed it nearly causes my truck to stop and will not shift into proper gear. Truck continues to rev at nearly 6-7 thousand rpm and puts stress on transmission and motor. Terrifying to be behind the wheel when this occurs”

Should you keep driving it?
This page can't tell you that. 1 of 109 reports involved a crash and 1 people were hurt. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.
