What is your Grand Cherokee doing?
Each one opens a sheet built from the owner reports of that problem on the 2022 model year.
Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 261 owner complaints on file with NHTSA, 1.4 times the median of 189 for 2022 SUVs on this site. Of the 13 Grand Cherokee model years since 2014, it has the 9th most complaints. Complaint counts rise with sales as well as faults, so read what owners report below before deciding.
At a glance
- Next to the 2021 and 2023
- At 52 complaints for each year on the road, the 2022 runs below the 2021 (68) and well under the 2023 (97).
- Top problem
- Two problems run close. Hybrid system has 62 complaints and stalling has 53, out of 261 in all. A quarter of the 9 owners who gave a mileage for hybrid system saw it by about 15,000 miles, and half by about 25,000.
- Crash, fire and injury reports
- 8 of the 261 complaints (3%) report a crash, a fire or an injury, a little under the 6% typical of vehicles on this site. Counted separately (one report can carry more than one), 7 reports mention a crash and 1 mentions a fire.
- Recalls behind the top problems
- Dead battery has a recall on the same system (25V-083, 25V-576 and 25V-741). Hybrid system and stalling have none. A recall on the same system doesn't always cover the failure owners describe, so compare its summary with the complaints.
- When owners filed
- Filings jumped in 2025, with 133 complaints, 3.6 times the next busiest year. So far in 2026, 70 more have come in.

How this compares
261 complaints is 1.4 times the median 2022 model on this site and 1.4 times the median 2022 SUV. Among the 13 Grand Cherokee model years here it ranks 9th for complaints. Counts follow sales volume as much as reliability, so a truck that sells 700,000 a year draws more reports than a sedan that sells 200,000.
