Stalling on other Grand Cherokee years
Report counts are for each model year on its own, so a newer car has had less time to collect them. Model years with too few reports of it for a sheet: 2025, 2026.
What this problem usually is
Stalling reports are some of the most alarming on the site. The engine quits while the car is moving, sometimes on a highway and sometimes at a stop. Many owners say it restarted right away and the dealer found no stored code, which is part of why these complaints pile up before anything gets fixed.
What got replaced
Owners who name the part that was replaced mention the battery (14 reports).
Recalls and investigations
4 recalls on the electrical system cover the 2022 model year. A recall on the same system isn't always the same failure, so read the defect text.
A software error may cause the transmission gear selection indicator not to display.
The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.
A software error within the hybrid control processor may result in a loss of drive power.
The center stack upper display (DCSD) contains a transistor that may overheat and prevent the rearview camera image from displaying.

What owners wrote
“While driving 30mph in town, the vehicle shut off. The engine quit, lost power steering, dash message said, âPress brake and push button to start.â Conditions were: in e-Save mode, the gas engine was running, battery level was <1%. We came to a stop, pushed the start button, the vehicle started and drove normally. The passenger recorded most of this on video. We did complete the related recall last November.”

“The Hybrid System had a failure - flashed on the screen - and then shut off/ could not use acceleration pedal. This notification had appeared twice before, taken to the dealer, and told it was just a glitch. My wife was on the interstate when she lost he ability to accelerate. We had it towed to the original dealership of purchase. The Jeep is sitting at the dealership now.”

“My Jeep Grand Cherokee 2022 4xe lost power while I was going 65 miles per hour on the freeway. I had great difficulty getting to the side of the freeway nearly being struck by other drivers. I had no power steering and no way to put my hazard lights on when the car lost power. The jeep is still not drivable at this time and is at the dealership.”

Should you keep driving it?
This page can't tell you that. 1 of 53 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.
