Recalls and investigations
One recall on the airbags covers the 2014 model year. A recall on the same system isn't always the same failure, so read the defect text.
Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee vehicles manufactured January 1, 2013, to November 19, 2014. The affected vehicles may experience unintended side curtain and seat air bag deployment during vehicle operation.
Risk and remedy
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will re-flash the occupant restraint control module software, free of charge. The recall began on March 4, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R05.

What owners wrote
“Started the vehicle and before we could put it in gear, the airbags in the back seat deployed. I contacted Jeep Customer Service and was given case # 93132151 and they had it towed to the nearest dealership for diagnosis. Then Jeep refused to pay the diagnostic fee and the dealership wonât do the diagnosis. Our fear is that the vehicle is unsafe to drive as the front airbags could now go off.”

“Driving the vehicle for a few mins and the seatbelt light and airbag lights will come on and message show service airbags soon. Will stay in for about 2 mins to 15mins. Does not occur everyday but would say once every two weeks.”

Should you keep driving it?
This page can't tell you that. 17 of 46 reports involved a crash and 16 people were hurt. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.
File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation.
