What owners wrote

“My truck’s brakes failed unexpectedly. I know there’s been a recall on similar year and engine models for brake issues. Even though my VIN isn’t showing an open recall, I’d like this inspected because the failure feels identical to the recall problem.”

Filed Mar 2, 2026

“Unexpexted Brake failure had to pump brakes to get vehicle to stop. Would have caused accident in roadway if not for driving it into rumble strip to stop. Scary experience, towed it to get brakes repaired. No weather conditions on road.”

Filed May 26, 2024

“Brake failure due to broken brake line. The hard metal brake line that runs from the distribution line on the ABS unit to the front drivers side brake came in contact with the steering linkage rubbing a hole in it. I have notified Ford customer care and my local dealer and they do not wish to take care of the issue. This posses a huge safety concern.”

Filed May 25, 2021

“Hydraulic brake control unit, mileage of truck is 47438 when diagnosed. Possibly brake failure, ABS failure and downhill control fault. Confirmed by dealer, 5/24/2021. Was confirmed by Johnson City TN Ford technician. Yes, service advanced trac warning, hill descent control fault, then brake fault with all brake warning lights lit (ABS, parking and brake) No access to scanner but have paper copy of invoice”

Should you keep driving it?

This page can't tell you that. 1 of 90 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.

File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation. How reports land on this sheet.
