What this problem usually is
These reports start with the check engine light. Many describe the engine running rough or shaking at idle, a P0300-series code, or a catalytic converter code. “Coolant intrusion into cylinder 3, diagnosed at two different shops. This is a known defect in the manufacturing of the engine block and Ford corporate refused to assist us in any way in fixing it. $9600+ repair quote on a car with 121000 miles! There is am active TSB, so they know all about it! This should not be allowed!!!”

“Significant Coolant loss with no visible leaks. Check engine light indicating cylinder 2 misfire. Large amount of White smoke from exhaust when starting. Car shakes upon start up then goes away after warming up. 74k miles. Complete service history shows that the car has been properly maintained since new. Vehicle seems to hesitate when accelerating from a stopped position.”

“Coolant intrusion into the cylinder. This is a known issue by Ford for a 2018 Edge. The repair calls for replacement of the long block assembly. Since this is a known issue, Ford needs to issue a recall for full replacement, even after warranty expires. This vehicle currently has 74,000 miles.”
