What this problem usually is
These owners find water where it shouldn't be: a soaked carpet, a wet footwell, water pooling in the cargo area, and often a musty smell before they find the source. The smell is the most common thread, mentioned in more than four in ten of these complaints.

The tailgate may not latch properly due to misaligned tailgate strikers, which could result in the tailgate opening while driving.
The windshield wiper arm or arms may loosen, possibly causing the wipers to not operate properly and reduce the driver's visibility in certain weather conditions.
In the event of a rear impact crash, the rear step kit may cause the rear control arms to contact the fuel tank.
The instrument cluster may not properly illuminate driver warnings. As such, these vehicles fails to conform with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."

“Water leaked into the cab from faulty rear window frame and damaged a key electical component. This component is clled RF module and controls the Ignition, locks, remote operations from the fobik. Imobilizing the vehicle, recall covers the Backlite rear window leak but not the damage caused, leaving vehicles stranded and imobilized. The repair by dealer is almost $2000.00.”

“Rear window area not sealing properly from issues with body causing water to leak into the cabin. This is causing mold growth, electrical shorts and possible fires. There are hundreds of trucks dealing with this issue discussing this via online forums. Many are breaking the rear windows just to have insurance fix it, some are slapping silicone everywhere to stop the leaks.”
