Backup camera failure on other 1500 years
Report counts are for each model year on its own, so a newer car has had less time to collect them. Model years with too few reports of it for a sheet: 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026.
What got replaced
Owners who name the part that was replaced mention the camera (53 reports) and the head unit or screen (39 reports).
Recalls and investigations
3 recalls on the electrical system cover the 2018 model year. A recall on the same system isn't always the same failure, so read the defect text.
The powertrain control module may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail, causing a stall or a no start condition.
The backup camera may experience a loss of image display while backing up. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."
These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging.

What owners wrote
“Radio Delamination, safety issue, loss of control features, backup camera turns on, making unwanted phone calls”
Filed Jul 29, 2024
“Backup camera blanks out to blue screen during operation. Does it randomly, has done it multiple times, seems to have a mind of its own.”
Filed Jun 16, 2023
“The 8inch screen is delaminating as a result the backup camera is not operating correctly. This is a safety issue. When the vehicle is turned on there are continuous phantom icons pressed. 911 has been called numerous times due to this problem. I do see this as being a widespread issue as the delaminating issue is common on 2018 models.”
Filed Apr 30, 2023
“U connect radio system / screen delaminating/ radio makes phone calls to 911 and other numbers on its own. Controls a/c and heat turns those off and on without anyone touching the controls very annoying, distraction to driver also causes backup camera not to work.”

Should you keep driving it?
This page can't tell you that. 1 of 53 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.
File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation. How reports land on this sheet.
