What this problem usually is
This is the narrower sheet inside transmission shudder for shifts that jerk, lurch or bang. Where the wider sheet also takes in slipping and vibration, these reports are about a shift that arrives too hard: the car lunges forward, or a clunk comes through the floor as it drops into gear.

Recalls and investigations
One recall on the transmission and drivetrain covers the 2019 model year. A recall on the same system isn't always the same failure, so read the defect text.
Loose battery terminal connections or a degraded battery may cause the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) to unexpectedly reboot. Upon rebooting, the TCU may shift the transmission to the "Park" position, possibly damaging the parking rod.

“Ever since we bought the car, the car has hesitated when we step on the gas pedal. It will then jerk forward, which makes it difficult to merge into traffic. There is a safety concern as it is unpredictable about when it will happen and when the car will start to go.”

“driving at slow speeds through a neighborhood (20-25mph), my car seemed like it tried to change gears and it downshifted and lurched us forward. it was as if i slammed on the brakes almost causing us to get rear ended. this lurching has happened many times and is now an unavoidable event. From my research this is a common problem!”
