What this problem usually is
Screen complaints read like a list of small betrayals. The display goes black or freezes, the backup camera shows nothing when you shift into reverse, CarPlay or Android Auto keeps dropping, or the radio changes volume on its own. This PI is created to inform GM dealers that some vehicles may intermittently fail to connect wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto after Bluetooth pairing during the first key cycle. The condition is caused by a software anomaly.
A dealer may encounter multiple DTCs when a B65 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Intake Air Temperature Sensor fails. Diagnostics may be misleading but if the Fuel Rail Temperature has the 419 degrees displayed this PI will assist with repairs.
• Improvements to driver display information for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) range including drivable range in miles, low DEF warnings, and maximum speed warnings. • Improvements to start reliability and reduced check engine light activation.
• Improves Check Engine Light accuracy. • Improves behavior of aero shutter system in freezing temperatures. During the update process, your radio may stay on up to 5 minutes after you exit the vehicle.

“The backup camera in the dark on this vehicle is unusable. Someone will eventually run someone over. I have added brighter lights everywhere on the back of the vehicle and the camera is still useless at night. The dealer told me it looked fine to them (they checked it in a lit garage). There are hundreds of complaints across all forums.”

“Gridlines on the backup camera work intermittently when backing. The issue has been occurring since taking delivery. 20 June 2024. The dealer has made (3) attempts at repairing and has not resolved the issue. A Buy Back request was submitted 9/2025 and denied. GM advised it is a known problem they are working on. Back up cameras with gridlines became a mandatory safety feature in 2018.”
