“Hesitation with shifting when driving at low speeds. The powertrain control system has detected one of the transmission clutches did not apply within the expected time as expected. Some transmission gears may not being available resulting in delayed or harsh shifts into another gear.”

“The torque converter is slipping mostly during speed up in lower gears as a shuddering experience. Not safe to pass during these hick-ups due to the hesitations. I had it in at Apple Ford in White Bear Lake, MN. where they found it in the diagnostic performance. No warning lamps. It first started at around 67 or 68K miles. 70k miles on it now.”

“Vehicle has 950000 miles. Started hesitating and shuddering while changing gears at 50k and has progressively gotten worse. Has been to two dealers with diagnosis of transmission and/or torque converter replacement. Estimates between $4-8.5k to replace/repair. Quick internet search shows that this is a very common and known issue to Ford. Why has there not been a recall on this vehicle for these problems?”
