What this problem usually is
Stalling reports are some of the most alarming on the site. The engine quits while the car is moving, sometimes on a highway and sometimes at a stop. Many owners say it restarted right away and the dealer found no stored code, which is part of why these complaints pile up before anything gets fixed.

The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.
A high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure may introduce internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel starvation.

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler may crack and allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system. This mixture may combust inside the intake manifold.
These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging.

Fuel Tank Issue Description: Ram 1500 built between 7/1/16 and 8/15/16 with concern of "hard to fill" or "premature shut off", please remove the Canister line and Recirculation Line and retest. If the condition continues, tank replacement may be required.

“I've read many problems with not being able to put fuel in the truck, I am experiencing that exact problem. You can't pump gas into the tank. The nozzle shuts off immediately, after .15 cents or so. No engine codes to help diagnose the problems.”

“Driving down road and truck engine sputtered and lost power eventually completely stalling out. If on a busy highway I could have been hit due to the loss of power at speed. I had it towed to a dealership and they have confirmed it is the High Pressure Fuel Pump that has failed and is under recall. There were no warnings of this failure prior to it happening.”

“Recall was announced in June 2022, there is still not remedy. I was driving my vehicle when all of a sudden it stalled out in the middle of an interstate. I was able to drift to the median to keep myself and others safe. I had it towed to my dealership and they said they can not fix it, itâs part of the recall. Now Iâm here without a vehicle and Chrysler will not do anything about it.”

“Truck shuts off on its own mostly at low speed but in traffic for years Ram told me they could not find a problem. now ram says they know what's wrong but they don't know how to fix. recall (66a) (z46) been trying for years to get this fixed. stalled four times in traffic yesterday. Called Ram and they don't when or if then will be able to fix.”
