“Started getting " service 4WD system" message at @ 84k miles. Took to Jeep dealer. Code C14A7-97 Internal transfer case failure. Was quoted $3627 for new transfer case and part not available. A car with low overall mileage should not be experiencing these kind of issues. Seems to me that this is a manufacturer problem.”

“At 38,700 miles, the PTU started to fail. 4WD service unavailable message displayed permanently as well as svc 4WD light. Sometimes while driving there is a loud buzzing sound. June 2025 Dealership found code C14A7-97 and states replacement is needed. Due to low mileage, should be considered for the warranty recall.”

“My Power Transfer Unit is bad on my 2017 Jeep Cherokee. My light came on that says service 4WD. I took it to the Jeep Dealer who states that my Jeep showed a code c14a7-97 and it said my PTU is bad.”
