Recalls and investigations
One recall on the airbags covers the 2017 model year. A recall on the same system isn't always the same failure, so read the defect text.
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect.
Risk and remedy
Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver's air bag module, free of charge. GM began mailing final owner letters February 23, 2024 and will continue mailing through December 2025. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N232404980.

What owners wrote
“I was notified of the air bag recall in June 2023, and no action has been taken on this problem yet. My concern is, of course, if I'm an accident and the air bag deploys and metal is scattered thru out the inside of the car the end result will be disastrous to whom ever is inside my car.”

“GM has had a pending recall for a couple of months minimum on this vehicle for a critical safety component, the airbags. I have a young child and this is our families only car so they should be fixing this immediately. I have had this same recall done on cars I owned in the past (Honda) and it has never taken this long or been an issue.”

Should you keep driving it?
This page can't tell you that. 0 of 68 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.
File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation.
