“Imagine wrapping up your errands and stepping into your GMC Acadia to drive home. You arrive and everything seems fine until you park, press the button to shut it off, and a âShift to Parkâ message lights up the dashboard. Thinking you might have made a silly mistake, you double-check the shifter, only to realize itâs already in Park. It has become so rampant, has drained my battery and caused anxiety.”

“Shift to Park light remains on after youâve put the car in âparkâ which could potentially run the battery down. Car does not recognize when it is in âparkâ. Have to âjiggleâ the gear a bit, in hopes that it turns off.”

“Shift to park alert pops up when turning vehicle off. Vehicle is in park. This prohibits the vehicle from turning off. Per my investigation other gmc acadias made in 2017 also have experienced this which results into either prohibiting them from turning their vehicle off or their battery dying. This is a safety hazard because it increases risk of being stranded due to malfunction.”
