The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse or when the park function is manually activated.
Due to a software issue, affected vehicles may experience center displays and instrument panel displays that do not boot, or that sporadically reset. This can result in loss of speedometer information or loss of rearview camera image.
The 12-Volt battery charging cable may contact the steering column shaft and cause the cable insulation to wear, possibly resulting in a short circuit.
The electric motor sealing ring was improperly assembled, which may allow coolant to leak into the high-voltage system and interfere with the CAN communication and power supply.

“Center display sporadically resets while driving causing loss of speedometer information and loss of rearview camera image and parking sensors. This vehicle fails to comply with regulatory requirements. There is an increase risk of crash or injury when driving or backing up.”

“After six months, VW still doesn't have a repair for recall 24V344. My speedometer, backup camera, climate control, and all other functions controlled via the display screens malfunction. Both the dealer and and VW customer service have confirmed that no repair is available and they also will not provide a refund or replacement. My only option is to continue driving the car with malfunctioning key systems.”

“While driving on a freeway the screens recently went fully blank on the car consistent with the open recall software issues. In addition I recently put my car in reverse and the rear view camera failed to load in a timely manner. I have contacted VW dealer and corporate to initiate a buy back but have heard nothing from either party and any attempt to repair these conditions.”
