The driver's side impact air bag may be missing a weld at the side air bag housing.
The passenger occupant detection system (PODS) may experience a fault in the wiring and deactivate the front passenger air bag when the seat is occupied.
The door wiring harness electrical contacts may corrode, disrupting the electrical connection and delaying the deployment of the driver or passenger front side air bag during a side impact crash.
An incorrect driver and/or front passenger side impact air bag may have been installed.

“I Bought the SUV on 6-22-23 Tried to get the recall fixed on 8-11-23 And according to Volkswagen the recall came out on 4-4-23. This means I was sold a vehicle with a known safety recall with no current fix as was not alerted. I bought the vehicle to earn a living by renting it on Turo and they will not let it be rented with an open safety recall. I need to file a complaint.”

“UKNOWN. DUE TO NHTSA Recall Number 23V215 we are unable to use the front passenger seat of the car. This recall was reported March 29, 2023 and at almost 5 months has no remedy. VW has failed to remedy this safety recall in a timely manner.”

“Passenger airbag issue has not been recalled. Advised not to drive car. How is this the solution? Not every family has funding to own more than one vehicle or use alternative transportation. We rely on our car for transportation to/from work and school. The recall was issued more than four months ago and no estimate for resolution has been provided.”
