Recalls and investigations
One recall on the transmission and drivetrain covers the 2024 model year. A recall on the same system isn't always the same failure, so read the defect text.
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Tundra, Tundra Hybrid, Lexus LX600, and 2023-2024 Sequoia Hybrid vehicles. Unexpected vehicle movement may occur when the vehicle is in neutral and the brakes are not applied.
Risk and remedy
Remedy: Dealers will update the transmission control ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2024. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TA02 and 24LA02.
When it happens
Too few of these reports state a mileage to give a range.
What owners wrote
“Throttle lag/hesitation. When pressing the gas pedal from a stop nothing happens for more than 5 seconds or longer. There is significant lag before the vehicle will accelerate.”
Filed Jan 6, 2026
“When slowing down to a stop but not stopping completely then speeding up to enter another street or an intersection there is a 1-2 second hesitation before the truck reacts and actually moves. This is very scary and dangerous as it can cause an accident with oncoming traffic in certain situations. Toyota knows about this and does not have a fix for this defect.”

“Throttle lag/hesitation when making a right hand turn after a stop. Truck was moving after taking my foot off the break to advance my vehicle to get a clear line of sight due to cars parked on the roadway. Once line of sight was clear there was a lag/hesitation after stepping on the accelerator”
Filed Dec 22, 2025
“The vehicle has acceleration hesitation. Sometimes when trying to go from a complete stop the vehicle is almost dead and doesnât move then it feels as if the âclutch was popped â in a manual but it is an automatic.”

Should you keep driving it?
This page can't tell you that. 0 of 28 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.
File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation.
