ABS light on on other 2500 years

Report counts are for each model year on its own, so a newer car has had less time to collect them. Model years with too few reports of it for a sheet: 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2026.

What this problem usually is

This is the narrower sheet inside brake problems for the anti-lock brake (ABS) warning light. What separates it from the wider brake sheet is that most owners here aren't describing worn pads or grinding. They're describing a light, and often a list of features that quit along with it.

Is this a known problem?

The manufacturer has sent NHTSA 1 service bulletin or notice for the 2017 Ram 2500 that deal with this problem. Newest first.

Federal rules make a manufacturer send NHTSA a copy of any notice about a defect that goes to more than one dealer or owner. Most of these are service bulletins, the repair instructions manufacturers send to dealers. NHTSA generally leaves safety recall bulletins out of this file, and recalls are listed separately.

What owners wrote

“This recall for ABS control module went out just after my warranty expired. My truck is a 2017 with just over 60,000 miles and I am scared to haul trailer as the brakes lock up with sudden stops. Also cruise control and traction control won't work and truck constantly dings all the time to remind me I bought a broken truck that RAM don't fell like they have to fix such a hazardous safety issue”

“2017 Ram 2500 ABS Pump Module was replaced before at 33,549 miles in May 2021 ABS and TCS Lights keep coming on now again at less than 49,000 miles. This is not an uncommon problem it seems, so I am adding my incident.”

Should you keep driving it?

This page can't tell you that. 6 of 442 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.

File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation. How reports land on this sheet.
