Backup camera failure on other Ridgeline years
Report counts are for each model year on its own, so a newer car has had less time to collect them. Model years with too few reports of it for a sheet: 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.
What got replaced
Owners who name the part that was replaced mention the camera (33 reports), the wiring or connector (19 reports) and the head unit or screen (9 reports).
Recalls and investigations
2 recalls on the electrical system cover the 2020 model year. A recall on the same system isn't always the same failure, so read the defect text.
The rearview camera (RVC) tailgate wire harness may fatigue and break, which can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying.
The heating pads behind both side-view mirrors may not be bonded properly, allowing the mirror glass to detach.

Is this a known problem?
The manufacturer has sent NHTSA 1 service bulletin or notice for the 2020 Honda Ridgeline that deal with this problem. Newest first.
Federal rules make a manufacturer send NHTSA a copy of any notice about a defect that goes to more than one dealer or owner. Most of these are service bulletins, the repair instructions manufacturers send to dealers. NHTSA generally leaves safety recall bulletins out of this file, and recalls are listed separately.
American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM) is searching for certain 2020-2023 Ridgelines with a customer complaint of the rearview camera inop. Customer may also complain of the tailgate lock inop, alarm activating on its own, or cargo light inop.
What owners wrote
“Rearview camera stopped working due to the tailgate wire harness failing from normal opening and closing of the tailgate .the issue appears to be identical to the subject of a recall in 2017 to 2019 model years.”

“Backup camera goes black - no picture. Doing some follow up on the internet, this appears to be a problem that has affected other Honda Ridgelines.”
Filed Apr 21, 2024
“The reverse camera on the vehicle flickers black and then shows the image, or will be black the entire time. This happens intermittently”
Filed Apr 11, 2024
“The wiring harness for the rear back up camera is beginning to fail. I know this is an issue and has been a recall on the 2017-2019 model years. The harness that fails is the exact same on the 2020 model and should be recalled as well.”

Should you keep driving it?
This page can't tell you that. 0 of 33 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.
File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation. How reports land on this sheet.
