What this problem usually is

“Continued transmission issues, losing power, hard shifts, down shifts at random times. Been to the dealership several times about this. Safety issues due to being on busy highways at 65+ mph and loss of power or down shifts puts myself and others at risk of a wreck. No warning signs. Started reporting issues in September of 2025. Dealership has made 3 attempts to fix and the issue hasnât been resolved.”

“10R80 Transmission issues. Hard shifting, lunging forward, irradic shifting on highway, hard shifting between 3rd and 4th gear which causes the vehicle to lunge forward. Near full transmission failure on highway. Excessive loss of power and erratic shifting. Had to pull over in the highway. Mechanic states a new transmission is needed.”

“"SHIFT SYSTEM FAULT" warning comes on dash with a wrench code. This is on my 2019 Ford Expedition Max, with 77000 miles on it. This warning comes when vehicle has been driven and since put in park, then put back into gear. If vehicle is shut off and turned back on code has cleared. Recently also got a "powertrain malfunction" code where then a driver mode became unavailable.”
