What this problem usually is
These reports start with the check engine light. Many describe the engine running rough or shaking at idle, a P0300-series code, or a catalytic converter code. “I was driving down the highway and veered onto a secondary road when the engine shut off. No prior warning was given and the check engine light was not on. I was forced to stop the vehicle; there was no shoulder to pull onto, so I ended up blocking a lane of traffic. The engine seized and must be replaced, or the car will have to be scrapped.”
