Recalls and investigations
One recall on the steering system covers the 2019 model year. A recall on the same system isn't always the same failure, so read the defect text.
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Jeep Wrangler and 2019 Ram 1500 vehicles. These vehicles have improperly machined steering column stub shafts that may break, possibly causing the steering wheel to detach from the steering column.
Risk and remedy
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the steering column, replacing it, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began April 5, 2019. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V29.

What owners wrote
“I have experienced the death wobble 4-5 times. The dealer says they have already replaced the steering damper once already. I am concerned there are more issues with the steering system on this Jeep.”
Filed Feb 3, 2023
“Vehicle's front end violently shakes harmonically side to side when driving over 50 mph upon hitting uneven surfaces on highway and interested. When this occurs, the driver loses the ability to safely steer and must brake which is also unsafe to do on the highway or interstate. The harmonic vibration resonates until the speed is reduced to approximately 35 mph.”

“âDeath wobbleâ is happening on Highway when going over 65mph. Took it to the dealership and said there is nothing wrong with the Jeep. Steering wheel shakes violently causing entire vehicle to rattle. Very scary and hard to control”
Filed Nov 23, 2022
“Highway speeds going over a bump in the road the front end/steering wheel will begin to shake violently. The only way to stop it is to release gas and slow down.”

Should you keep driving it?
This page can't tell you that. 0 of 156 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.
