ABS light on on other Wrangler years

Report counts are for each model year on its own, so a newer car has had less time to collect them. Model years with too few reports of it for a sheet: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026.

What this problem usually is

This is the narrower sheet inside brake problems for the anti-lock brake (ABS) warning light. What separates it from the wider brake sheet is that most owners here aren't describing worn pads or grinding. They're describing a light, and often a list of features that quit along with it.

What got replaced

Owners who name the part that was replaced mention the ABS module (47 reports) and the ABS pump (3 reports).

What owners wrote

“The ABS module has failed and is apparently impossible to locate. I have been working with a mechanic for 8 months now, and both the dealership and MOPAR cannot provide a date for either a replacement solution or parts availability. This seems to be a widespread issue for the Wranglers from this period. Stellantis should at least provide an alternative. Thanks,”

“ABS module has internal failure rendering the ABS inop. This is known issue across JK body style Jeep Wranglers.”

Filed May 21, 2026

“ABS control module has failed causing the ABS system and the traction control to fail. I have no antilock brakes now. I have had issues with braking multiple times, especially in loose traction. Manufacture stated there’s no available replacement parts to fix my condition. Traction control, ABS, and Brake lights stay illuminated on my dash. This also creates a distraction while driving.”

“ABS Module failure with no replacement available. Unit available for inspection. Vehicle can not be safely driven. Doesn't brake properly and not reliable on wet roads. Speed control non functional. Vehicle has been at dealer for months. Vehicle has been inspected by insurance and Jeep dealership. Multiple warning lamps are lit. First appeared after accident. ABS module replacements are not available per dealer.”

Should you keep driving it?

This page can't tell you that. 2 of 59 reports involved a crash and 1 people were hurt. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.

File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation. How reports land on this sheet.
