What is your Palisade doing?

Each one opens a sheet built from the owner reports of that problem on the 2022 model year.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Palisade reliable?

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade has 306 owner complaints on file with NHTSA, 1.6 times the median of 189 for 2022 SUVs on this site. Of the 7 Palisade model years since 2020, it has the 5th most complaints. Complaint counts rise with sales as well as faults, so read what owners report below before deciding.

At a glance

Next to the 2021 and 2023
At 61 complaints for each year on the road, the 2022 runs below both the 2021 (73) and the 2023 (100).
Top problem
Seat belt leads with 82 of the 306 complaints (27%), ahead of windshield at 42. Too few of the seat belt reports give a mileage to say when it starts.
Crash, fire and injury reports
11 of the 306 complaints (4%) report a crash, a fire or an injury, a little under the 6% typical of vehicles on this site. Counted separately (one report can carry more than one), 6 reports mention a crash, 2 mention a fire and 7 people were hurt. The most crash reports, 5 of 6, fall under brake wear.
Recalls behind the top problems
Each of seat belt and windshield has a recall on the same system: seat belt, 25V-607; windshield, 23V-180. A recall on the same system doesn't always cover the failure owners describe, so compare its summary with the complaints.
When owners filed
Complaints are still climbing. 2025 brought 72, the most of any year so far. So far in 2026, 75 more have come in.

Service bulletins for the 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Hyundai filed 87 bulletins and other notices with NHTSA that list the 2022 Hyundai Palisade. 19 of them deal with a problem owners have reported on this car, 11 of those a warranty extension. Newest first.

Federal rules make a manufacturer send NHTSA a copy of any notice about a defect that goes to more than one dealer or owner. Most of these are service bulletins, the repair instructions manufacturers send to dealers. NHTSA generally leaves safety recall bulletins out of this file, and recalls are listed separately.

Inadvertent seat belt unlatch. Closed dec 12, 2025, led to recall 25V-607.

        NHTSA summary
On August 7, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE24021 to investigate complaints alleging inadvertent unlatching of seat belts in model year (MY) 2020-2023 Hyundai Palisade vehicles manufactured by Hyundai Motor America. The complaints alleged that, without warning, the seat belts sometimes inadvertently unlatch, increasing the risk of injury due to full loss of seat belt protection in the event of a crash. As a result of information exchanged as part of the investigation, on April 3, 2025, Hyundai initiated a warranty extension policy for seat belt buckles on model year 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. Hyundai subsequently initiated a request for warranty parts returns to support further analysis by the buckle supplier, ZF Lifetec. The warranty extension (reference “Z06”) noted that certain 2020 – 2025 model year Palisade vehicles may experience abnormal seat belt buckle(s) operation. Hyundai extended the warranty coverage for the seat belt buckle under this condition to 15 years/150,000 miles (whichever occurs first) from the date of original retail delivery or date of first use. This action is valid for original and subsequent owners. On September 11, 2025, Hyundai filed recall 25V-607 for certain 2020-2025 Hyundai Palisade vehicles. Hyundai explained in its recall filing that the subject vehicles are equipped with seat belt buckle assemblies in the front row and second row outer seating positions that may contain ou

Windshield wiper failure. Closed may 26, 2023, led to recall 23V-180.

        NHTSA summary
On August 15, 2022, Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) filed a safety recall (NHTSA Recall 22V-627) of 122,919 model year (MY) 2020-2021 Hyundai Palisade vehicles produced from April 10, 2019 to November 30, 2020. This recall addressed windshield wipers that may function intermittently or stop functioning when impeded by the accumulation of snow and/or ice at the bottom of the windshield. Intermittent or inoperative windshield wipers could reduce driver visibility while operating the vehicle in inclement weather, increasing the risk of a crash. On December 2, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Recall Query (RQ) after receiving 6 consumer complaints alleging windshield wiper failures while driving during wintry precipitation in MY 2021-2023 Hyundai Palisade vehicles (subject vehicles). These vehicles were excluded from Recall 22V-627. At the time of opening the RQ, the root cause and recall remedy were still unknown and under investigation. Thus, the RQ was opened to assess the scope and remedy of Recall 22V-627.In its February 10, 2023 response to ODI's information request on the RQ, Hyundai provided 17 customer complaints and 75 warranty claims related to the alleged defect in the subject vehicles. Hyundai stated that the wiper systems in the subject vehicles are equipped with a different wiper motor design than the earlier-built Palisade vehicles included in Recall 22V-627. Hyundai also stated it does not believe there is an unreasonable risk to motor v
