What owners wrote

“Head lights are so dim that I had to pull off side of road to see if they were even on. They were on, but absolutely úseles on dark road way because they are so dim thus making driving at night very dangerous. . Problem started about 85,000 miles. I cannot safely drive at night in this vehicle.”

“My 2014 Acura RDX only has 24,000 miles on it and the headlight are so dim I cannot even tell if they’re on at night!!! This is extremely dangerous!!! To replace these headlights through my local dealer cost over $850! I’ve found on the internet that this is a very common problem that thousands have had! I cannot believe that the government has not forced Acura to recall for this problem!!!”

“Since I purchased my car in 2014 the headlights have dimmed tremendously. So much that my husband pulled the car to the side of the road the other night because he insisted the headlights were burnt out. I explained that they've been that way for a long time. We absolutely cannot drive my car at night because it's as if we have no headlights. I think this poses an extreme safety hazard.”

“Deteriorated low beam lighting, so bad that you almost cannot drive at night. Bulbs are new and lens isn’t fogged. It seems on other models in the same year there was a recall due to deterioration of the headlights yet no recalls are open on my RDX.”

Should you keep driving it?

This page can't tell you that. 1 of 160 reports involved a crash and 2 people were hurt. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.

File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation.
