What owners wrote

“Over the course of ownership I have had frequent instances of loss of power and/or lack of acceleration resulting in almost stalling out while trying to take off. This causes dangerous situations when trying to pull out into traffic because you never know when the vehicle might hesitate and crest unsafe distances between you and other moving vehicles.”

“Hesitation when trying to accelerate. When I start my truck in the morning And hit the gas there’s a hesitation before it will move and When I come to a stop sign and hit the gas there’s always a hesitation. When the truck finally starts to move it jumps quickly forward from pressing down on the gas pedal and it’s almost caused me to rear end someone multiple times.”

“Hesitation From Stop and Surge Concerns. this may cause traffic surge, collison in my front for having no control of the speed if I end up pressing the gas all the way which it cause a quick surge of speed, due to the hesitation when pressing the gas, this happened to my car for a lot of times now which I ignored it until I saw the help from the Toyota Tundra forum, that I can actually send a report to NHTSA.”

Should you keep driving it?

This page can't tell you that. 1 of 36 reports involved a crash and 1 people were hurt. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.

File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation.
