What this problem usually is
Stalling reports are some of the most alarming on the site. The engine quits while the car is moving, sometimes on a highway and sometimes at a stop. Many owners say it restarted right away and the dealer found no stored code, which is part of why these complaints pile up before anything gets fixed.

A hose may separate from the engine oil cooler tube assembly causing an oil leak.
Prolonged exposure to elevated underbody temperatures can cause degradation of the fuel tank and/or fuel vapor lines, which may eventually result in a fuel leak.
The fuel pressure sensor may not have been seated properly to the fuel jumper line, which may cause a fuel leak.

“The evaporator is leaking and apparently is a known issue from ford and they didn't report this. The evaporator core is leaking and it blows hot air for a good amount. It draws a lot of power form the system and drops the rpm below idling. Forcing me to rev a cold engine so that it does not stall out.”

“Canister purge valve malfunction stuck in an open position. If this occurs, an excessive vacuum in the fuel system could cause deformation of the vehicleâs plastic fuel tank. Indicator light check engine with fluctuating or inaccurate fuel levels. This could lead to a stall while driving and/or an inability to restart the vehicle, which can increase the risk of a crash.”
