“2022 VW Taos 18k miles leaking coolant - coolant light is coming on 1x per month with minimal driving and mild conditions. I have had it diagnosed 3x at the dealership and they find “no leaks” and their directive is keep an eye on the reservoir. VW forums are full of similar stories where the head gasket needs to be replaced.”

“Failing head gasket that needs to be replaced. Appears to be a common issue. Parts are backordered so have been waiting on the repair for over a month now. Issue identified in the shop on 1/25/24, but was leaking coolant before that.”

“2022 taos using coolant. Originally believed to be head gasket could as well be burning. At this time we are not sure a head gasket will make a difference. Dealership stated to keep coolant with to keep from over heating. 61,XXX miles in the vehicle. Did discuss pressure issues with the dealer about a year ago but they could not find the issue”

Should you keep driving it?

This page can't tell you that. 0 of 58 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.

File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation.
