Debris from the manufacturing process may contaminate the engine and cause the main bearings to fail, which can result in an engine stall and loss of drive power.
Risk and remedy
Remedy: Dealers will perform an inspection on the #1 main bearing using vehicle inspection software and drive data, and if necessary, replace the engine. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner letters were mailed August 28, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB14 and 25TA14. Incorrect programming of the parking-assist electronic control unit (ECU) software, may cause the front camera image to appear on the multimedia display instead of the rear camera image when the shifter is placed into reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles. The flange nuts on the axle shaft sub-assemblies can loosen over time and potentially cause one or both axle shaft sub-assemblies to separate from the axle housing.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the rear axle assembly, tighten the axle flange nuts, and replace any damaged axle-related components if necessary, free of charge. “Was driving at 55 mph on a side road and started to notice pulsing/mechanical noises from the engine. After 3 minutes the Check Engine Light came on with a warning 'Take Vehicle to Dealership' and a few seconds later the engine shut off in Drive at 55 mph. Lost power steering and coasted to a neighborhood to be towed. Was not able to restart the vehicle.”

“Engine completely shut off on me while I was driving on the highway. I barely had enough time to pull off the highway. After restarting the engine it had a knock. Had it towed to the dealership and it needed to have the engine rebuilt. I pursued Texas lemon law since they had my vehicle for over 90 days waiting on the repair.”

“On at least six occasions I have experienced a stall when the vehicle is in motion. The vehicle reports that I need to stop, shift into park and restart the vehicle. It seems to occur mainly when I am slowing down for a stop sign.”

“Throttle lag - When attempting to accelerate from near or complete stop vehicle will accelerate for a split second and then act as if it is stalling causing a dangerous situation. It has put me in a position where pulling out into traffic i'm left for 2-3 seconds with no throttle response.”
