Recalls and investigations

Electrical System:Ignition

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2015 Fit vehicles manufactured December 6, 2013, to August 28, 2014. The affected vehicles may experience damage to the wires inside the Plug Top Ignition Coils (PTC) due to improper protection against electrical noise.

Risk and remedy
Risk: If the wires become damaged, the coil may overheat and cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the Plug Top Ignition Coils with new design, free of charge. The recall began on October 9, 2015. Owners may contact Honda Automobile Customer Service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is JT9.

What owners wrote

“The fuel gauge, which is digital, has a soldering point which is apparently a known failure spot due to the type of solder used. This causes the display to fail, which makes the fuel gauge unreadable. Not only is this a distraction for drivers, but it can lead to running out of gas unexpectedly in dangerous situations.”

Filed Jun 21, 2025

“The multi-information display" (MID) which indicates information like the odometer, trip meter, outside temperature, fuel economy, and warning messages goes blank or presents as gibberish. It may only "come to life" randomly.”

Filed Dec 23, 2024

“The cluster information display on the dashboard that shows fuel level, odometer, oil life, and trip mileage blinks and flashes and sometimes disappears completely, leaving only a blue screen. When it blinks parts of the characters disappear and it is not possible to read any of the information. The problem is intermittent but getting worse.”

“Digital fuel gage and odometer flickers intermittently or displays incorrect information”

Should you keep driving it?

This page can't tell you that. 0 of 63 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.

File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation.
