Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Civic vehicles manufactured January 16, 2014, to November 6, 2014 and 2015 Fit vehicles manufactured March 12, 2014, to May 12, 2015. The software settings that control the transmission operation may result in damage to the transmission drive pulley shaft.
Risk and remedy
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will update the software for the transmission, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin October 30, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are JU2 (Civic) and JU3(Fit).

Took to mechanic and they said it was faulty start button was replacef and in June of 2025 transmission plug was popped out and all lights started throwing warning signal again and car died won't restart.”

“Transmission failed on the freeway December 2021. I was suddenly unable to speed up or accelerate my car. Placed me, my passengers and other people on the freeway at serious risk. Many cars braked suddenly behind me and swerved out the way to prevent a car accident. Dealer at the service center denied a problem and was inspected by them. No warming lamps or messages.”

“When I was merging onto the highway, my car suddenly stopped being able to move forward when the gas pedal was pressed. I was able to steer it to a safe location and tested the rest of the shifter positions but the car would not move at all in any of them. After having it towed to a dealership it was found that the CVT belt had come apart, necessitating a full transmission replacement.”

“I bought the 2015 Honda Civic in 2019 and had to replace the transmission in 2020 and now in February of 2023 I need to replace the transmission again. No service lights came on for transmission until the shop told me my trans was going out and I would need to replace it again. He said it is a common problem for the 2015 Honda civic because of the CVT transmission.”
