What this problem usually is
Stalling reports are some of the most alarming on the site. The engine quits while the car is moving, sometimes on a highway and sometimes at a stop. Many owners say it restarted right away and the dealer found no stored code, which is part of why these complaints pile up before anything gets fixed.

The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.
The drive shafts were assembled with a lubricant that may have degraded the drive shafts' protective coating, making it more susceptible to damage from road salt or other contaminants, and potentially cause it to break.
Particulates in fuel may adhere to the internal components of the fuel pump, reducing its performance.
The case for the battery sensor, part of the battery management system, may allow water to get in, potentially causing an electrical short.
The affected vehicles may have been assembled with improperly torqued connecting rod bolts, which can cause the engine to lose power or leak oil.

Is this a known problem?

When cold-starting the engine and shifting to Reverse, the engine stalls in the first 10 to 14 seconds. There is too much oil clearance between the input and stator shafts, which allows ATF to drain out of the torque converter during extend off periods.

“Lost power without any warning while taking an exit on the highway. Fortunately, I was able to pull over without an incident. Mechanic scanned : P0087. Replaced high pressure fuel pump assembly and associated parts. Honda had a recall on 2013-2014 models. Extremely likely this problem persisted in the 2015 model but Honda did not include this model year in the recall. Very expensive repair.”

“While making a left U-turn my car suddenly restarted which caused a loss of power steering and acceleration. This issue occurred 2 more times until I was able to straighten the car out into the intended lane of traffic. During the vehicle restart, I noticed several dash lights appear in the left area of the dashboard, however could not identify the meaning.”

“When the car is started up cold, it will sometimes start to stall on the road. Turning on and off the car usually gets it working correctly again. Usually will only happen if the temp is at or near freezing. 2015 Honda Accord EX. This has been. Happening for years, but Honda says that thereâs no open recalls even though this seems to be similar to the recall (23V858000) from 12/17/2023.”

“Initially it started as ignition starter issues, now there seems to be what may be concluded as transmission issues. After doing research i see Hondas history of bad transmissions. Extremely low acceleration causes dangerous lane switching or merging with traffic, also the fear of it stalling and no longer working as I drive.”
