What this problem usually is
Stalling reports are some of the most alarming on the site. The engine quits while the car is moving, sometimes on a highway and sometimes at a stop. Many owners say it restarted right away and the dealer found no stored code, which is part of why these complaints pile up before anything gets fixed.

The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
The fasteners that attach the transmission shifter cable bracket to the transmission may loosen allowing the transmission to be in a different gear than indicated by the gear shift lever position.
In some of these vehicles, the transmission shift lever can be moved from the "Park" position without the key in the starting system and without depressing the brake pedal.

“When turning on to another road and accelerating, engine will suddenly loose all power. releasing accelerator will regain some power until vehicle speed increases. Throttle control is often erratic and transmission shifting is inconsistent resulting in hard clunks during shift. Pulling into traffic with a sudden loss of power leaves me vulnerable to a collision.”

“2019 Ford Ranger Problem-1- Engine tried to stall several times during driving and operation. Problem-2- When trying to shift from Park to forward or Reverse, the engine shuts off. My truck has been at the dealership for several weeks now and they have not been able to fix or identify the cause.”

“Unknown, My vehicle seems to stall in low gear. I already informed the dealership several times, and they stated that everything was fine. The stalling appears to be getting more frequent as time goes on, and worried that this could cause further damage to the vehicle. This is a safety concern as well.”
