What is your Bronco Sport doing?
Each one opens a sheet built from the owner reports of that problem on the 2022 model year.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport reliable?
The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport has 358 owner complaints on file with NHTSA, 1.9 times the median of 189 for 2022 SUVs on this site. Of the 5 Bronco Sport model years since 2021, it has the 2nd most complaints. Complaint counts rise with sales as well as faults, so read what owners report below before deciding.
At a glance
- Next to the 2021 and 2023
- Complaints ease off across these three model years. Counted per year on the road, the 2021 draws 116, the 2022 72 and the 2023 40.
- Top problem
- Two problems run close. Brake wear has 50 complaints and stalling has 44, out of 358 in all. A quarter of the 15 owners who gave a mileage for brake wear saw it by about 5,000 miles, and half by about 15,000.
- Crash, fire and injury reports
- 29 of the 358 complaints (8%) report a crash, a fire or an injury, a little above the 6% typical of vehicles on this site. Counted separately (one report can carry more than one), 13 reports mention a crash, 13 mention a fire and 17 people were hurt. The most crash reports, 6 of 13, fall under airbag.
- Recalls behind the top problems
- Each of brake wear, stalling and dead battery has a recall on the same system: brake wear, 21V-922; stalling, 22V-191 and 25V-685; dead battery, 24V-267, 25V-019 and 25V-685. A recall on the same system doesn't always cover the failure owners describe, so compare its summary with the complaints.
- When owners filed
- Complaints are still climbing. 2025 brought 110, the most of any year so far. So far in 2026, 84 more have come in.

How this compares
358 complaints is 2.0 times the median 2022 model on this site and 1.9 times the median 2022 SUV. Among the 4 Bronco Sport model years here it ranks 2nd for complaints. Counts follow sales volume as much as reliability, so a truck that sells 700,000 a year draws more reports than a sedan that sells 200,000.
