General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect.
Risk and remedy
Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver's air bag module, free of charge. GM began mailing final owner letters February 23, 2024 and will continue mailing through December 2025. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N232404980.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver's air bag module, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on November 3, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 10, 2022. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2010-2015, 2017 Buick Enclave, 2010-2019 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2011-2016 GMC Acadia vehicles. The side curtain air bags may not be properly attached.
Risk and remedy
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, realign or replace the weld nuts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 24, 2021. “This recall has been an issue since the middle of last year. I have called Buick several times and I am still being told that, "there is no remedy". It is unsafe for me to drive my children around in a vehicle with an airbag issue. This is serious and I would think a recall that can cause serious injury or death would have been taken care of already.”

“We have been waiting over 6 months for an airbag repair due to the recall but no remedy is available. We have been warned that this could cause injury or death but nothing seems to be happening. I am concerned that GM will issue a statement telling us not to drive the vehicle. I know this has been done just recently on other auto makes. What will it take to get it fixed before another injury or death occurs.”

“Nothing has happened yet, but there still isn't any progress on a fix from the manufacturer. I worry everyday that I or my children will be killed by my airbags if they deploy. It has been almost 1 year. Shouldn't the manufacturers get to fixing these recalls in a timely manner or update vehicle owners?”

“Existing recall on airbags has been issued for over 6 months with no solution. This is a potentially dangerous condition that these airbags that can cause metal fragments to pass thorough the vehicle. GM has neglected to adequately address the issue and does not provide any time frame they expect to have a solution, all while millions of families are put in danger each day by the very thing intended to protect them.”
