Stalling on other A6 years

No other A6 model year has enough reports of stalling for a sheet of its own. See every A6 year.

What this problem usually is

Stalling reports are some of the most alarming on the site. The engine quits while the car is moving, sometimes on a highway and sometimes at a stop. Many owners say it restarted right away and the dealer found no stored code, which is part of why these complaints pile up before anything gets fixed.

“First sign of the vehicle is shaking and making noise while driving over 65mph. A few days later, the tire pressure warning was on. The next day, electric system malfunction light was on, advising me to contact service center. At the same day, steering function light was on and it was stiff to drive the vehicle. A few miles down the road, engine shuts off, and was unable to restart.”

“Known generator problem. The entire car shut down when I was on the express way at 5:30 PM rush hour in Chicago. Luckily I was able to get over to a shoulder before the car went completely DEAD . Even the emergency flasher would not work, miracle that we didn't get killed. Can't believe Audi let people drive these cars when many have had this problem”

Should you keep driving it?

This page can't tell you that. 0 of 34 reports involved a crash. Owners who file are the ones who had a bad experience, and nobody checks their reports. If the problem affects steering, braking, power or a fire risk, treat it as a safety fault and have it inspected before a long or high-speed drive.

File your own report with NHTSA. Complaint counts are how a problem gets an investigation. How reports land on this sheet.
