What this problem usually is

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM) is searching for certain 2019-2021 Civics, CR-Vs & HR-Vs with a customer complaint of the audio screen turning black, blank or inop.
With an iPhone connected to the USB port: -Apple CarPlay does not launch/cannot connect. -The screen is frozen, blank or black. -The audio unit will automatically restart.
The Bluetooth HandsFreeLink (HFL) system freezes after a phone call and stored voice tags are missing when the ignition is turned ON.
iPhones cannot connect to Apple CarPlay. The audio unit will not launch Apple CarPlay when an iPhone is connected to the USB port.

“The odometer display/gas gauge goes blank for long periods of time while driving. When I took it to the dealer, they said, âOh yes that is an HRV thing,â so they have seen this before clearly. It is a safety concern to not be able to see the odometer and gas gauge to know when fuel needs to be replaced in the vehicle.”

“The instrument cluster is glitching and it does not display the amount of fuel in the tank, the mileage/odometer reading that is necessary to know when we are low on fuel. The digital display is blank and people that have same issue state that the soldering done on the cluster was manufactured improperly causing the display to short out.”

“Speedometer, fuel gauge, mileages, Temperature, not showing up on the dashboard! Itâs dark when the car it start up! Just dark screen on the odometer side. Itâs start blinkering when you drive for while. Itâs happened to the las 3 years and getting worse this year. Itâs happened every morning and fewer times in the evening.”

“The gauge cluster display will go in and out. There is apparently a faulty solder joint that gets affected in cold weather and until the car is warmed up the gauge cluster stays blank. I was informed that I need a new one at the cost of $1800+ for a 2019 HRV with 24000 miles. It seems very wrong that this part has failed.”
